Bridle Fitting

Bridle Fitting is a bit less common than things like saddle fitting and bit fitting, but is still an important aspect of your tack.

While some horses will show big preferences with their bridle types and shapes, for most it’s more about making sure your buckles are in the right place, your noseband isn’t too high or low, things like that.

This is a great service to take advantage of if you’re maybe new to the riding game and not too sure what you should be looking for, or upgrading from an old bridle that never really fit that well.

Another great reason to use bridle fitting is to make sure you know your horse’s sizing before you purchase a bridle. Not sure if you need the cob or the full noseband? Bridle Fitting can answer that for you.

I fit with my own personal range of modular bridles, where each part of the bridle can be purchased in any size. Horses aren’t one size fits all, and being able to mix up the sizes within the bridle can really ensure a perfect fit.

FAQ

Do I need to ride for a bridle fit?

Nope! Your horse will be fitted from the ground.

If your horse has some behavioural issues under saddle that you think may be related to bridle fit and you want to test this on the day, please let me know ahead of time.

Should I get a bridle fit before my horse is mouthed?

Absolutely. As long as your horse is well handled enough to tolerate having a bridle put up and over their ears, you can do this before they are broken in.

However, if they are not mouthed and have never had a bit on before, we may have to just make our best guess on the length of the cheekpieces.

What brand of bridles do you use?

I use my own personal line of bridles that I import from the UK.

I do not currently stock any other brands.

Will you fit other brands?

Absolutely. If you already have a bridle that you would like fitted, I am happy to advise you of an changes I would recommend. However, I cannot swap pieces out or try on different styles as I do not carry any other brands.

I am also happy to measure your horse for a new bridle of another brand based on the manufacturer’s sizing charts, but can make no guarantees of fit.

This bridle fits great, can I keep it?

Not on the day, no. I do not currently carry any floor stock for on the day sale.

If I fit a bridle to your horse that you love, I can order it in for you in the sizing and style that we decide on on the day.

How long does a bridle fit take?

For most horses it will be about a half hour process. If your horse is bridle or head shy, or difficult to handle in other ways, it may take longer. Please let me know ahead of time if you think this may be the case for you.

How much does a bridle fit cost?

Bridle fits are charged at a rate of $80 plus a small travel fee dependent on area.
